I call the series Favorable Conditions in reference to the thoughts I was having one day about why humans (or at least this human) would be attracted to flowers. I mean, they are beautiful, but it's not like I’m a bird or bee. So, what is it exactly? Why does it feel so innate and natural to love flowers? I decided that flowers, much like art, are one of the ways an environment communicates its vibrancy, its life force. When I see flowers or art, I feel like it's a place I want to be; a place I want to explore. Since the series is a byproduct of an ongoing studio practice and includes a repetition of its core motif, I thought it fitting to name the series after how I was feeling that day about flowers - a thing in nature that is perhaps a byproduct of a healthy ecosystem and one that is most beautiful in multiples.
